Thoughts on vacation...

Between sweating in the desert and yelling at my kids, I had a lot of time to reflect over the past week. These are some of my thoughts:

There should be a separate section on planes for people who hate babies. The wing, maybe.

Hotels need to stop putting up those huge bathroom mirrors that extend past the edge of the counter and the toilet back, 'cause when I'm cleaning my business, I really don't need to see that.

Sometimes rocks are really pretty. Sometimes, they're just rocks.

Threatening to throw your unruly child into the Grand Canyon is NOT good parenting, no matter how loudly the threat is posed.

Nothing in the Arizona Diamondbacks gift shop is affordable.

Watching the local news in another state is pretty much a huge waste of time.

As much as I enjoyed our trip to the great state of Arizona, I was anxious and uncomfortable the whole time. Having your children racing back and forth along the rim of the Grand Canyon tends to increase one's blood pressure. Traveling with three small children is never easy. Just getting to church on time and sane is quite a trick. Traveling across the country and back is a task of such an undertaking that only the most devious, Machiavellian mind could find joy in the execution. My wife, therefore, is the perfect person to plan such a thing.

It was a good trip. Arizona has a super cool state flag. I saw tons of cacti and I hardly recognized my own kitchen when I walked into it. Bring on normal life.

Thank you,
Matt Beers
