Children's book illustration.

I found this somewhere on the interweb. It's a page from an old children's book. I have no idea which one. I just love the simplicity of the wording and the illustration. There's something eerily beautiful about it.

    It looks hauntingly familiar to me. I'm sure I've read this book, but can't for the life of me figure out where, when, or which one.
