(If you're wondering, one of them is of me grocery shopping, alone, at Walmart, trying to talk to the camera without drawing too much attention to myself, and the other is me at the Taco Bell drive-thru. Not Oscar material.)
I shall now delve deep into the reaches of my hard-drive and search for a tasty morsel for you to nibble until tomorrow. Be right back...
This first one is from way back in the magical year 1981. Maybe '82. It doesn't matter. What matters is that wallpaper. It was pea-green and textured with felt and utterly fan-effing-tastic. That's me in the front rocking the blue suit. Flanking me are my grandparents, Mammaw and Pap. Behind me are my brother, David, and my sister, Michele. And in the back stands our cleaning lady, Bernice. She was caught stealing mustard and had her hands cut off at the neck.
This picture was taken in the spring of 1996. This is one of the best friends I ever had, Lisa. And I am NOT wearing a wig. And I do NOT have that jacket anymore. It's hard to say which I miss more, the hair or the jacket.
I really couldn't say what kind of plant is growing in the tray on the floor in front of us, but I'm pretty sure it's not pot. We weren't that cool.
This handsome young gent is the 165lb Man. He didn't have a blog. He had a mohawk, instead. This is around 2001 or so. This is the day of Joe and Lisa Benner's wedding. Joe and I became friends in the seventh grade and pretty much stuck together until we had wives, and, ultimately, something better to do.
And, finally, here I am, in the fall of 2009, wishing I had bigger corn.
Thank you,
Matt Beers
So it's really more of a hair migration than a parabola...unless you have some bald baby pictures!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think you're cool, too.
